Spiritual Direction
How is Spiritual Direction helpful?
It is often difficult to make a faith journey alone, especially during times of discernment. Spiritual Direction is a confidential partnership to discuss and pray about the ways this most intimate and profound relationship with the Holy is understood, entered into, and nurtured.
What is a Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual directors are sometimes called spiritual advisors, spiritual guides or spiritual companions. In the Celtic tradition, Spiritual Dorectors are referred to as an Aman Cara, the Gaelic words for soul friend. As your Spiritual Guide I serve as witness to the relationship between you and God, reflecting back to you where and how God is present in your life.
Is Spiritual Direction is right for you?
Consider your hopes for the spiritual direction relationship: Are you seeking a companion on your journey? Developing your prayer life, seeking assistance with vocational discernment or life issues, striving to deepen and strengthen your relationship with the Holy are examples of what spiritual dorection offers.
Appointments are scheduled approximately every four weeks held in a quiet and safe place, in person or over Zoom or Facetime, to engage in a process of holy and respectful conversation.
Contemplative Group Spiritual Guidance
Contemplative Spiritual guidance prayer groups generally meet monthly for 90-minute sessions in a prayerful environment where members converse about their spiritual journey and relationship with the Holy. Our work through sound and silence will encourage a deepening prayer life using musical offerings, poetry, scripture, interior imagery with visualization, and exterior seeing using icons and simple art projects.
Retreats
A Contemplative Spiritual Retreat is time set apart to be in quiet, rest, and solitude with God. Retreats remove us from noise and distraction, and into a place of spiritual refreshing and renewing. It is a way of entering into the presence of God.
Retreats last for an extended period of time in a place set apart and can be theme oriented. Past retreats include Advent and Lenten focused retreats. Here is a partial list of my retreat offerings::
