Hospice and Memory Care

Hearing is the first sense developed in humans and the last sense before death. Brain wave studies reveal that even non-responsive and actively dying persons can hear sounds. Therapeutic harp music helps support hospice work as a palliative modality.

Music predates recorded history, but its roots may lie in early human communication and rituals for healing. “Heal” comes from the same root as our word “whole.” Healing suggests the idea of wholeness, specifically any movement toward that wholeness.

Therapeutic harp music can help "awaken" Alzheimer's and dementia patients by tapping into the music of their youth, helping to bridge the gap between the present moment and long-held memories.
